Episode 75 Hour Two
December 2, 2020

The Cannabis 101 Podcast is your guide through the legalization and consumption of cannabis in Canada and beyond. It’s not just about getting high, it’s about getting healthy. Catch Hour One on Monday and Hour Two on Wednesday.

Nathan Mison, the CEO of Diplomat Consulting joined me this episode to discuss Reviewing the Cannabis Act and much more. Can the Supreme Court play a role in giving cannabis equal treatment - not special treatment - but equal treatment so it can survive. We also dove into cannabis and food as well as what's happening around the world when it comes to forms of legalization. It was a very informative conversation and gives hope to getting rid of some of the shackles the cannabis industry has to operate with.

Chris Ianson is our educator and the Manager of the Jasper Avenue location of Nova Cannabis in Edmonton. Each week we explore a different cultivar and make recommendations for what level of cannabis user it fits with based on their level of experience. Joi Botanicals is a fairly new LP and we explored Cake Crasher #1. The story of how the LP formed is a neat and unique one, while the cultivar has an amazing lineage which brings out a rare taste profile. We'll give you the Who-What-When we think it's good for and more. Use ‘Click and Collect’ through Leafly to order ahead and pick up when you arrive at your local Nova Cannabis store.

The Cannabis Question is about Cannabis Christmas, while the Cannabis Character is from a comic book.

The Cannabis 101 Podcast is your guide through the legalization and consumption of cannabis in Canada and beyond. It’s not just about getting high, it’s about getting healthy. Catch Hour One on Monday and Hour Two on Wednesday.

David Wylie of the oz normally joins me each week to discuss the latest on This Week in Cannabis News. Things happen fast in the still developing cannabis industry and we’ll bring you the top stories. David couldn't make it so I covered off three intriguing stories. The UN will be voting on some very important cannabis policies this week and it could have a global shake up on the industry and thrust some countries forward when it comes to the plant. Cannabis is a huge cash crop in Canada according to Statistics Canada. Cannabis is largely responsible for a massive boost in farm receipts over the first three quarters of 2020. Rising 112.4% year over year as growing the plant is now worth about one-quarter of what farmers receive for our countries largest crop. Plus some exciting research when it comes to CBD and long term impacts.

Malka Labell of the Green Generation Co brings the latest bud-biz-buzz on The Business of Cannabis. We discuss latest the latest innovations, regulations and anything else making some bud-biz-buzz. In our Lead topic it was how Educations defeats stigma and how some of our counties biggest companies are engaging in the conversation about the future of cannabis. Gamechangers featured HempE and their innovative products and distribution channels. What it Means to be Green had us discussing what the United Nations are doing to try and improve the lives on every human and how we are sometimes prone to 'First World Problems' in Canada. Find out how Malka can help you here

The Cannabis Question is about Christmas Presents and in Weed Word of the Day I discussed the end of the joint as well as how trichomes are harvested!!!

I'm always on the hunt for new knowledge when it comes to the plant and Kelsey Cannabis joined me to share some of what she has learned over the years. She's an Educational Consultant and Public Speaker who has a strong cannabis education. We chatted about where and what she has learned, as well as what the plant has done for her personally and what it can do for you. Kelsey suffered serious brain and body injuries from an accident, but cannabis has given her a life back and a future full of learning.

Chris Ianson is our educator and the Manager of the Jasper Avenue location of Nova Cannabis in Edmonton. Each week we explore a different cultivar and make recommendations for what level of cannabis user it fits with based on their level of experience. On the menu this week is Melon Gum from Weed Me. Their motto is 'Anytime, Any place, Weed Me' and it's something I can get down with. Some really nice flavours coming off this indica dominant hybrid. Try and put this under a microscope or at least get a close up look, you won't be disappointed. Find out Who, what and when this cultivar is good for. Make sure to use ‘Click and Collect’ through Leafly to order ahead and pick up when you arrive at your local Nova store.

David Wylie of the oz joins me each week to discuss the latest on This Week in Cannabis News. Things happen fast in the still developing cannabis industry and we’ll bring you the top stories. Mexico looks like it's on the verge of legalization, at some point, we think. There are still many hurdles to pass and laws reformed before you will be able to get good week on vacation in Mexico, or grow it yourself if you live there. There are some clear differences good and bad when compared to Canada in how the law is being rolled out right now, but that will likely change quite a bit moving forward. We also touched on cannabis sales increasing in Canada, more lies from wannabe Conservative leader Peter MacKay and strict regulations impacting organic growers. Get the latest news from the oz every Friday here

Malka Labell of the Green Generation Co  brings the latest bud-biz-buzz on The Business of Cannabis. We discuss latest the latest innovations, regulations and anything else making some bud-biz-buzz. Canada has a two year head start on cannabis legalization as the only G7 country to have made the plant accessible, but we soon won't be. Other countries will soon pass us if we aren't careful. In The Lead we looked at what countries we should be paying attention to when it comes to global cannabis. Changemakers brought us products from CannMart while What it Means to be Green introduced us to some amazing low tech, natural solutions to helping the environment. Find out how Malka can help you here

The Cannabis Question is about the cannabis helping you and in Weed Words of the Day it was people and devices I explored.

This week was fun, goofy, disappointing and educational all in one interview. Shahbaaz Kara of Dutchie and Erik Fonseca of Detonate joined me to discuss both of the companies they work for, as well as Spiffy, the instagram of education. The disappointing aspect comes from their lack of weed movie knowledge, as not only did we do an interview but played an trivia game with audio clips.
